DIY Patio Lighting – Adding Solar Lights to Your Backyard Space

Give your patio a facelift with do-it-yourself solar lights.

Sara Bendrick shows you how to add ambient light to your patio area using wood logs and solar lights.

Supplies Needed:

Chainsaw
Protective apparel
Tape measure
Power drill
Wood boring bit
Solar lights
Wood logs

Directions:

Measure & Cut
Measure and cut the logs to about 10 to 14 inches in length.
Drill
Using a ¾-inch drill bit, drill down about six inches into the center of the log. Note: Drilling lengths may vary depending on the size of your lights.
Place
Place the solar light into the hole.
Display
Display your solar light in your outdoor space and enjoy!
