Make a Checklist

We've all been there: forgetting to put the plug in the boat, leaving your lunch in the fridge, forgetting to bring sunscreen in the middle of summer. It wasn't too long ago I forgot to unplug the extension cord to my three-bank charger before I left for the lake. I ended up getting a phone call from my wife a few miles down the road because she heard a terrible crash in the garage. Sure enough, I was dragging 50 feet of extension cord behind my boat through the middle of my neighborhood.

For these reasons, I like to make and keep a checklist before I ever leave for the lake. Paying attention to details like this will keep you from getting a nasty sunburn or going hungry on the water. I don't know about you, but I don't like being the guy that forgot to unhook his straps before launching, wondering why the boat isn't coming off the trailer. Try this hack, it may sound simple but it has saved me a lot of headaches, which means more fishing.
