Trout Unlimited will be releasing a Major Study Evaluating the Economic Impact of Salmon and Trout Fisheries on Southeast Alaska Regional Economy.
Unprecedented Study Finds that Salmon and Trout Contribute Nearly $1 Billion Annually and Account for 10 Percent of Regional Employment.
Trout Unlimited will hold a tele-news conference on Monday, January 17, 2011, at 10 a.m. AST/2 p.m. Eastern to unveil a new economic study that examines the value of Southeast Alaska's salmon and trout fisheries and hatchery operations. This first-of-its-kind study takes a comprehensive look at the economic value of all four sectors of the region's salmonid fisheries - commercial, sport, subsistence/personal use and hatchery production. Previous studies have looked at each of the sectors separately. The results show the salmon and trout underpin Southeast Alaska's economy to an extent not previously understood and indicate that maintaining and enhancing the conditions that allow these fish to thrive should be a key goal for land managers and everyone who cares about jobs in Alaska. What: Tele-news conference to unveil new Southeast Alaska economic study of salmon and trout fisheries and hatchery production.
