Gear Review: SoftScience Terrafin Wading Boots

I made a change this summer for water shoes.

I tried a wading boot from SoftScience called the Terrafin. They are built for fly fishing but I decided to wear them while kayak fishing.

A very lightweight boot; the slip-resistant Trileon soles (description can be found below) is a pillow for your feet. This was especially appreciated while I was standing on a rocky shoreline getting my kayak ready to head out.

The rocks did not hurt my feet nor was I slipping around on them.

I know it is a fly-fishing boot, but I have to say it is worth giving the Terrafin a try for kayaking and fishing.

The water-flow system allowed the boots to drain and begin drying. Once in my kayak the boots really didn’t take long to dry, allowing my feet to stay comfortable the rest of the day on the lake. The upper is made of a woven, breathable microfiber, which aids in the drying process.

Overall, I am impressed with the comfort of these boots. To share a secret here, I not only wore these kayak fishing but ended up wearing them for several more hours on dry land and really found them comfortable.

Trileon is used in the shoes’ durable outsole and in the removable, washable insole.

The Trileon insole does not absorb moisture. They can be washed off as desired with a garden hose or in a washing machine, then simply toweled off or air dried.
